Tips & Hints
Check Program Version Numbers
After downloading and installing a new version of the software, always check that
you are running the latest version by comparing the version number of the downloaded
set-up file with either of the following:
- If you have downloaded SuperVend's Main Program then look under "Help | About" when
the initial screen is displayed.
- If you have downloaded SuperVend's Report Program then look under "Help | About"
after you have selected "Reports" from the Data Entry menu.
- Multi-users should take particular note to ensure the latest version is installed
on every computer on the network.
Microsoft Windows Vista
Current Programs...
- SuperVend programs will run under this operating system but may require some tweaking
to allow the program to run in the same manner as previous versions of Windows.
Vista Overview...
- The level of security has been stepped up in this version of Windows.
- Administration rights are either full or standard with the latter being the default
setting as distinct from previous versions of Windows where there was only one Administrator
account type which had full rights.
- The idea is to run your computer as a standard user and elevate to a full Administrator
whenever you need to use that level of authority (such as installing new software
etc).
- A new system called "User Account Control" (UAC) has been introduced to stop unwanted
programs from running on your computer without your knowledge.
- When UAC is activated (default) you will be prompted to allow or deny any programs
that are trying to be executed to be run or not.
- UAC can be turned off completely or specific actions can be changed to suit your
personal requirements.
