Troubleshooting
CMP-10 Printers: There have been a few issues reported with these printers.
- The charger does not work. Possible cause is the tip that plugs into the
printer has been detached from the cable and put back incorrectly. The "+"
sign on the tip should line up with the word "tip" on the cable. When
it is reversed the polarity becomes negative and when the charger is turned on it
blows a fuse on the printer circuit board. This requires the printer to be returned
to SuperVend Software for repair. Use super glue to secure any loose tips but make
sure it is lined up correctly before applying the glue.
- The printer does not work after being dropped on the ground. Usually when
this happens the part where the paper is kept flies open and the rubber roller and
the attached plastic sleeves and cogs also fall out. Unfortunately if any of the
parts for the rubber roller are not put back then the printer will not function
because the mechanism is pressure sensitive. The rubber roller is fixed to a metal
shaft with a plastic cog and sleeve on the left side and a longer plastic sleeve
on the right side. If you lose some of the parts then advise the Help Desk and replacement
parts can be supplied without the need to send the printer back and forth. Note:
If you are a careless person or you are accident prone then you might like to secure
a large rubber band around the printer to prevent the paper section from opening
in the event of the printer being dropped.
- The printer fails to print when an orange light is flashing. Requires a paper
roll to be inserted.
- The printer fails to print even though the green light flashes OR the printed
characters are not always clearly defined. This may be a simple process of cleaning
the printer head. The printer mechanism is quite sensitive and will not work if
any rollers are broken or missing, the printer roller holder is not closed properly
or the printer head is dirty. To access and clean the printer head make sure the
printer is turned OFF before opening the printer paper roller by pressing the blue
button. Locate the gold plate towards the front of the printer. Use a cotton bud
and metholated spirits to clean this plate. DO NOT use a soaked cotton bud which
may pour metho onto the circuit board. After dipping the cotton bud into the metho
simply squeeze the excess out with your fingers before rubbing the bud over the
gold plate and surrounding area including the rubber roller. The object of the exercise
is to clean as much build-up of dirt as possible from around the printer mechanism.
Allow the metho to dry before attempting to print.
- Make sure the battery is charged. (green light on) as this may also cause
printer failure. Perform a print self test (in manual) as follows: Make sure the
printer is turned off BEFORE holding down the LF button and keep it down while turning
the printer ON. Release the printer ON button and then release the LF button. The
printer should then print a test page. If it fails then repeat the process. If that
fails the battery may need to be charged.
- Try performing a soft reset of the handheld if the infrared signal does not
work.
